The expectation for Raf Simons second couture collection for Dior was inevitable. Every slight detail of the Spring 2013 couture show would be taken in account, discussed and analyzed. It is still a huge challenge to debut for Dior´s Haute Couture after Galliano, but Raf Simons seems to have truly connected with the maison’s long-timers achieving an amazing result.
Celebrities, editors, fashion lovers and Dior addicts made the pre-show an amazing runway through the snowy streets of the City of Light. The Jardin des Tuileries, in Paris, was the perfect spot to place an enchanted garden where labyrinths performed as a perfect runway. Pixie haircut, pale skin and red lips spoke about the latest trends as models passed by in a diverse palette of colors.
Keeping up with Dior’s classics (peplum, bustiers, and constructed jackets) Simons “brought more reality to couture” by introducing pockets to the skirts, capri pants and capes, also, by giving a more deconstructed aspect to clothes and working with asymmetry. This “architectural” proposal connects with Christian Dior’s vision, as it brings the classics together with a futurist touch and the never-ending femininity and delicacy of every Dior woman.
